It has taken over two years to develop the Ace series but we're finally happy to lift the curtain at Salone del Mobile 2016 on the Normann Copenhagen's latest adventure.
A REVOLUTIONARY FURNITURE CONCEPT
Ace is not any furniture collection, but rather a new and groundbreaking way of living high-end design. Inspired by his own life in Copenhagen, young designer Hans Hornemann envisioned a new furniture concept in which high-quality and luxurious design goes hand in hand with the functional and convenient 'flat-pack' system.
A back, a seat, four legs and two little screws are at first sight everything needed to enjoy this expressive piece of design inspired by urban life.
Hans explains, ''I wanted to change the flat-pack concept and give it another meaning. A reasonable priced piece of furniture, without several weeks' lead time, that you can fall in love with and bring home with you straight away.''
With the Ace collection we give in to the urbanite pace of life, in which car-less metropolitan dwellers seek for lavish design in its most contemporary and flexible format.
THE ACE COLLECTION
The Ace collection is an engineering feat on its own! Ace can be easily assembled and disassembled, making it easy to transport and adapt to new spaces. However, this does not compromise high quality. The Ace series has been designed and manufactured down to the finest attention to detail.
The beech legs are stained in the same range of hues as the fabrics, giving Ace a homogeneous style.
Ace combines intelligent engineering with an elegant look. In its interior, Ace is constructed from moulded plywood, covered with moulded foam in both seat and back for the highest comfort and flexibility. On the surface, Ace curved and soft shape is topped of by an inviting upholstery that emphasizes the chair relaxed appearance.
The Ace collection's streamlined silhouette is endowed with a backward sloping back and angled legs that give the series a casual and spontaneous attitude that is hard to go unnoticed.
Two alluring fabrics, sophisticated velour, a mottled wool textile and exclusive leather are the different upholstery options that round off the Ace collection.
‘Nist’, the woollen textile exclusively designed by Normann Copenhagen for the Ace collection, brings out the series’ characteristic style, while the velour and leather gift Ace with a tempting elegance.

That is how Hans Hornemann, Normann Copenhagen in-house designer introduces us to the Ace collection design process. Fascinated by innovation in design, Hans is also behind the Slice table and the Rope modular sofa.
Flat-packed high-end design - it sounds like a crazy idea! Yet, Hans Hornemann set as a essential requirement that the function did not involve any compromise with the design.
From Ace dining chair to Ace lounge chair, footstool and sofa, the Ace collection is endowed with a casual and spontaneous attitude that is hard to go unnoticed.
